MINDEN - May 3, 2021 – The Baker Hughes Foundation has announced that it will renew its annual support of the Douglas County Community & Senior Center.

“At Baker Hughes, we are proud of our people and the communities where we work. We are honored to be able to give back,” said Ed J. Boufarah, vice president at Bently Nevada. “We cannot overstate the importance of a strong, family-oriented community. I am delighted that Bently Nevada is here in the Carson Valley and to announce our continued support of the Community & Senior Center as it makes it possible for so many people to have a safe place to enjoy a wide range of activities.”

The Community & Senior Center facility offers a gymnasium, fitness center, jogging track, racquetball courts, arcade, rock climbing wall, youth programs, and sports leagues, and serves as a venue for business meetings, charity dinners, and wedding receptions. The Community & Senior Center also played an important role in 2021 as one of the local Red Cross emergency evacuation centers during the Tamarack and Caldor Wildfires.

The Community & Senior Center is proud to be associated with Baker Hughes,” said Scott Morgan, Community Services Director for Douglas County. “Their generosity and commitment has made a significant impact in Douglas County. They are a leader in their industry and a shining example of corporate responsibility in our community.”

The Douglas County Community & Senior Center opened in 2014. The Douglas County Community Services Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) formed to financially support and enhance Douglas County’s Recreation and Senior Centers, through the funding of capital projects and equipment.

Bently Nevada originally began its support of the community center in 2015 with a donation of $50,000. Bently Nevada also provides support for the annual Minden Concert in the Park, MEFIYI, Backpack Buddies, Bunko for Breast Cancer, the Boys and Girls Club, Minden Aviation, Red Cross Northern Nevada, the UNR College of Engineering, UNR Society of Women Engineers (SWE), Cal Poly San Luis Obispo’s Rotordynamics Engineering Lab, WAVE, the Carson Valley Chamber, the Carson Valley 20/30 Club, Austin’s House, and Tahoe Fund.
