Welcome to the Douglas County Recorder's Office!

The mission of the Recorder's Office is to record, permanently preserve, and provide convenient access to public records, with superior quality and efficient customer service. The public records located in the Douglas County Recorder's Office include documents related to real property, such as deeds and deeds of trust, homesteads, liens, easements and many others. We also record maps, mining documents and marriage certificates.

The services provided by the Recorder's Office are mandated by Nevada Revised Statute (NRS) 247. We hope you find our website to be a good resource for information, forms, access to the public records and link to other offices. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff are available to assist you in person, by phone, or by email. NRS 7.285 prohibits this office from giving legal advice, which includes providing assistance with completion or interpretation of legal documents submitted for recording.

Index & Images Available

Digital images displayed online are unofficial copies, as noted by the “COPY” watermark. Official Record copies can also be purchased and downloaded online for $1 per page. Please contact the office at [email protected] or (775) 782-9025 to purchase certified copies of any land records.

1972-Present - Recorded documents from 1972 to the present are fully digitized and searchable online by keying in the party name or document number. Ongoing efforts are being made to index historic records back through 1960. 

1855-1972 - Digital index and document images for Official Records 1960-1972 and Deeds, Kinsey & Patent records 1855-1959 are searchable online.   

MAPS - All recorded maps are searchable online and can be searched by party name, document number or by section, township and range using the Advanced Search feature.

MARRIAGES - Index only can be searched online for marriage records 1949-present. Certified or non-certified copies can be ordered online. Marriage record images are not viewable online.

from historic records not available online are searchable on microfilm or microfiche on site at the Douglas County Recorder's Office.

About Shawnyne Garren, County Recorder

Shawnyne Garren began her career with the Douglas County Recorder’s office in 2007 and was elected to office in 2022. She is very active with Property Records Industry Association (PRIA), as the Government Co-chair of both the Communications Committee and the PRIA Local Silver State-North Chapter. PRIA is the industry leader in collaboration among industry stakeholders, establishing industry-wide standards and best practices, and providing education opportunities. Shawnyne is also the Secretary of the Recorders Association of Nevada and First Vice-President of the Nevada County Fiscal Officers Association.

Shawnyne has been a resident of Douglas County since 1992 where she and her husband raised their four boys. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Western Governor’s University and is a proud graduate of the 2016 class of Leadership Douglas County.

She is passionate about making a positive impact on her community as an active member of Business Council of Douglas County and board member of Austin’s House of Nevada and The Incredible Kids Fund, community programs that provide much needed support for youth in the rural Northern Nevada region.
