Gardnerville, NVDouglas County Social Services has been recognized with the prestigious Compass Rose Award for Integrity by the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) School of Social Work. The award honors organizations that exemplify integrity and consistently uphold social work values.

The Douglas County Social Services team was honored during the Celebrating Social Work Leaders Luncheon at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno on March 19, 2026, selected over four other nominees for its commitment to ethical practice and community service.

The department provides critical services, including housing assistance, employment support, access to food and utilities, and connections to mental health and substance use treatment providers. Programs for older adults, such as home-delivered meals and homemaker services, help seniors maintain independence, safety, and quality of life.

Across all programs, the department demonstrates accountability, transparency, and ethical practice, producing measurable and lasting impacts for individuals and the community.
