Lodge a VHR Complaint

It is our hope that issues can be worked out locally, however, if there are violations, contact the code enforcement officer for a remedy.

Vacation Home Rentals (VHR) in the Tahoe Township are enforced by Douglas County Code Enforcement Officers. All complaints will be logged and managed by Code Enforcement personnel. Call 911 for emergencies.

If you are experiencing an issue with a nearby Vacation Home Rental and would like to lodge a complaint, please do one of the following:

1. Call in a Complaint to Code Enforcement
Call the VHR Hotline at (775) 783-6027 and speak to a Douglas County Code Enforcement staff member. This line is managed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You will receive a call back if the line is not answered. Please have the address of the property ready to provide to the Code Enforcement Officer on duty.

2. Email a Complaint to Code Enforcement
Send an email to [email protected]. Whenever possible, please provide video and/or photo of the issue for the incident records, address, permit number, and a description of the issue. Anonymous complaints will not be accepted.

3. Reach out to the Local Contact
If you would like to call the "Local Contact" directly, you can find a phone number through Douglas County's online permitted VHR search. Click here or on the map below to begin looking up a specific VHR. Each permit holder is required to list a local contact person and/or emergency contact who is required to respond within thirty minutes of receiving the complaint. You are welcome to reach out via the phone number listed and allow them to deal with the issue on their VHR.
