Stormwater Division

What We Do 
As flooding remains a significant issue for residents and property owners in Douglas County, the Stormwater Division is committed to offering the following services:

• Providing information about the flood threat caused by the Carson River, creeks, ditches, and snow melt
• Providing flood map information related to the flood zones to the public
• Providing copies of filed elevation certificates to requesting parties
• Providing on-site assistance for drainage and property protection advice
• Providing information on how property owners can protect themselves from flood hazards
• Providing information on the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) 
• Providing information on constructing in the Special Flood Hazard Areas or floodplain
• Studying County drainage and identifying capital improvement projects that address prevalent issues
• Performing and tracking drainage system maintenance
• Administering the Lake Tahoe water clarity program (TMDL) and water quality permit (Small MS4 Permit)

Public Counter Hours and Services:
Monday - Friday, 9:30 am - 4:00 pm
You must first sign in at the kiosk in the lobby.

The Public Counter is located on the second floor of the Minden Inn at 1594 Esmeralda Avenue, Room 202.

Information is available at the Public Counter regarding floodplain development, flood zone maps, and elevation certificates.  Brochures are also offered on topics such as flooding in Douglas County, flood preparedness and safety, and flood insurance.
