Douglas County Assessor, Trent A. Tholen
Trent Tholen has been a Douglas County resident for 31 years, having moved to Gardnerville in January 1992. He graduated from Douglas High School in 1999. He has a Bachelor's degree from the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) with a dual major in management and marketing, and a minor in economics. He has been employed in the Assessor's Office since 2008 and is certified to appraise both real and personal property for taxation purposes in the State of Nevada. Trent was elected Assessor in 2018 and was sworn into office in January, 2019.
Other Positions
Trent served on the Genoa Town Advisory Board from 2013 to 2016, and was selected as chairman for his final two years. He is an active member of Carson Valley Little League, filling the role as tee ball director and coach to two of his sons. After serving several years on the Genoa volunteer fire department as an attack firefighter, he is now a social member of the organization.
Family
Trent and his family make their home in Genoa, NV, in a house that has been in his wife’s family since the late 1800’s and has been passed down through the generations. Trent and his wife, Katrina, have been married for 17 years and have been together for 24 years. They have three young boys; Brock, Walker, and Hudson, who are 6th generation Genoans.
Trent enjoys many sports and outdoor activities, including baseball, basketball, camping, hiking, off-roading, and just about any outdoor adventure he can do with his family. He enjoys coaching and managing youth sports for his sons, including baseball, basketball, flag football, and soccer.
