Douglas County Hosts NACO Conference
Posted on 11/09/2018

Douglas County is excited to announce it will host the Nevada Association of Counties (NACO) Annual Conference on November 13, 14, and 15, 2018. The conference will be held at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden.  Attendees will include Nevada local and state elected and public officials offering Douglas County an opportunity to showcase its business community, distinctive downtowns and local government contributions.

NACO was formed in Reno in 1924 under the name of Nevada County Commissioners’ Association. NACO is comprised of representatives from all 17 of Nevada’s counties, several statewide county associations called Affiliate Members, private industry representatives called Associate Members and Government Partners, statewide associations related to county government.

The conference features a historical tour that will provide insight into the rich history in the Carson Valley. An Economic Vitality Tour will include a driving tour to view various businesses in the County’s Industrial Parks to learn about the local manufacturing that supports local, national, and international business right in our backdoor. The last 2 hours of the tour include a walk-through of the Starbucks Roasting Plant.

Newly elected county officials will receive training to help them navigate challenging situations and includes workshops on topics such as transportation and infrastructure, preparing for emergencies, and workforce development.

This year’s reception will be held at Bently Heritage Estate Distillery in historic downtown Minden.

The event would not be possible with-out the help of local sponsors. More information on the NACO Conference can be found at http://www.nvnaco.org/meetings/annual-conference/

Douglas County is honored to host this event and we look forward to proving a hospitable experience for its attendees.
