County Unveils Executive Summary Draft, First Three Master Plan Elements, Dates & Times for Additional Public MeetingsMinden, NV- Douglas County unveils the Executive Summary, the first three of seven Master Plan Elements on the County’s 2020 Master Plan Update webpage and schedules three additional public meetings of the Planning Commission on November 4th, 10th, and 17th at 1:00 pm to continue the process to update the Master Plan.

At the special meetings of the Planning Commission on October 21 and 22, 2020 the results of the 2020 Master Plan survey were presented to the Planning Commission and the draft goals policies and actions were discussed.

“At the November 4th meeting the planning commission will wrap up their work on the goals, policies and actions and move onto the executive summary and the first three of seven elements,” said Tom Dallaire, Director of Community Development. “We made the decision to introduce and review the elements in phases to allow the Planning Commission sufficient time to focus on each individual component of the overall plan.”

The Master Plan draft goals, policies and actions, and draft element text can viewed on the County’s webpage at: www.douglascountynv.gov/2020masterplanupdate.

The Draft portions of the Master Plan currently available on the County’s webpage for review are:

• Master Plan Goals, Policies and Actions
• Executive Summary
• Element 1 - Land Use & Historic Preservation
• Element 2 - Agriculture & Conservation
• Element 5 - Public Facilities, Services & Recreation

The remaining four elements will be posted prior to the November 10, 2020 meeting.

The public is strongly encouraged to continue to review the proposed revisions and to provide feedback. Public comment on the Master Plan can be submitted during the meetings, by email or by setting up an appointment with the Community Development Department’s office. To offer public comment before the meeting, members of the public may submit comments by email to: masterplan@douglasnv.us.

Once the work of the Planning Commission to update the Master Plan is complete, the draft plan will be made available for a period of public inspection and additional comment prior to final consideration and possible adoption by the Board of County Commissioners. It is anticipated the County Commission will schedule public meetings the week of December 7th for this purpose.
