Douglas County Board of County Commissioners Accepting Applications for the VHR Advisory BoardMinden, NV- The Douglas County Board of Commissioners is currently accepting applications for appointments to the Vacation Home Rental (VHR) Advisory Board.

The application deadline is Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. Appointments will be made at the Board of County Commissioner’s Meeting held Thursday, September 2, 2021.

The board is looking to fill five (5) seats which meet the following criteria:

Applicants must be Douglas County residents.

The board shall be comprised of:
Two (2) Residents of the Tahoe Township that are current VHR permit holders;
Two (2) Residents of the Tahoe Township that are not current VHR permit holders;
One (1) Resident of the East Fork Township (all other county residents that do not reside in Lake Tahoe)

For the purpose of defining “Resident”, the appointee’s principal residence must be within the relevant Township and the appointee must physically reside at the residence for at least six months during a calendar year. No member may be appointed who has expressed opposition to the VHR program or otherwise appears to have a bias that may improperly influence their impartiality as a member of the VHR Advisory Board.

The function of the VHR Advisory Board is to hear enforcement appeals filed by VHR owners, consider applications for VHR special use permits for Tier three (3) VHR rentals, and to render advice to the Board of County Commissioners on proposed changes to the program.

If there are insufficient applications to the VHR Advisory Board to fill the requirements, then the Board of County Commissioners may appoint any registered voter in Douglas County to fill any vacant positions.
