Special Grand Jury Indicts Former County Employee for Theft from Douglas County

On August 31, 2021, a Douglas County Special Grand Jury issued an indictment accusing Rena Petri, a former case manager employed by Douglas County Social Services, of two counts of theft in the amounts of $2,400 and $2,000, respectively.  The thefts occurred while Petri was employed by Douglas County.  The indictment alleges that Petri used her position as a case manager to create fraudulent documents for fictitious rental assistance and that Petri ultimately received all $4,400 of the fraudulently obtained money through her criminal activity.  District Attorney Mark Jackson and Deputy District Attorney Matt Johnson presented the evidence to the Special Grand Jury.  Petri currently lives in Oakland, California.  A warrant has been issued for her arrest and bail has been set at $10,006 cash only.
