Douglas County 9-1-1 Emergency Services Launches New Service Allowing 9-1-1 Callers to Share Health DataMinden, NV- Douglas County 9-1-1 Emergency Services is pleased to announce another enhancement to our next generation 9-1-1 service. We have partnered with RapidSOS to bring enhanced 9-1-1 services to the residents and visitors of Douglas and Alpine Counties. Through RapidSOS, Apple and Android users can choose to share their Health App data during a 9-1-1 call and only during a 9-1-1 call.

How Does it work?
RapidSOS will provide patient medical and personal information immediately to public safety personnel during a 9-1-1 call at no cost. This will enable a data-driven and situationally-aware emergency response which can reduce the time to diagnosis and treat. Data transmitted will include information on medical history, allergies, medications, medical devices and emergency contacts.

No subscriptions or sign-ups are required. Citizens simply have to log into their Health Data App, chose what information they would like to share and select they would like to share their medical ID information during an emergency call. Sharing of the Health App data can be a life saver. Share only what you want; you have direct and total control of your data. 9-1-1 does not have the ability to search or query data without an active 9-1-1 call.

Along with the Health App Data, the additional service provides greater accuracy and detailed location information automatically to the Emergency 9-1-1 Operator, reducing the time required to pin-point cellular devices.

“RapidSOS allows emergency professionals access to critical health information to effectively respond during emergencies,” said Ron Sagen, Director of 9-1-1 Emergency Services. “This will produce more efficient, better prepared medical response, saving lives.”

Douglas County Emergency Services remains committed to using technology to enhance our ability to provide the very best emergency services for the residents and visitors to Douglas and Alpine Counties.
