Douglas County is actively monitoring and managing the COVID-19 level of risk in our community. In close cooperation with our emergency manager, East Fork Fire, and other partners, the County Manager’s Office, along with County departments, are coordinating the closure and openings of offices to take measures of caution to slow the spread of COVID-19.


Please see below for a complete list of County departments and services reopen to the public and re-opening guidelines related to each department. While offices start to re-open, some services will be limited. Essential services will be continued by departments using whatever modifications necessary to minimize contact among individuals.


DEPARTMENTS

ANIMAL CARE AND SERVICES
Adoptions available by appointment only, please call 775-782-9061. Animal Services Officers are available by phone as needed and for emergencies. Volunteer hours are suspended until further notice. 


BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MEETINGS
The Board of County Commissioners, and other public bodies such as the Planning Commission, will be conducting their future meetings electronically to reduce social gatherings and interpersonal contact. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Effective May 27, the Community Development Department public counter will be open to the public. The public counter is located in the Minden Inn at 1594 Esmeralda Ave and will be open weekdays 8am-4pm. COMMUNITY SERVICES
- Adult Day Club
Open as needed by the clients and families

Douglas Area Rural Transit (DART)
Effective May 26, Douglas County DART Express resumes service. The DART Express routes will return to service, also will be taking the follow safety precautions:

     Face masks are required for all passengers while boarding, riding on and exiting the bus
     Passenger Health Assessment will be conducted at time of boarding
     Only five passengers will be allowed on a bus at any given time to maintain six feet of social distancing between passengers
     Drivers are required to wear face masks and gloves
     Buses will be disinfected throughout the day

- Community and Senior Center
Effective June 3, the Douglas County Community Services is pleased to announce the reopening of the Valley Gymnasium and fitness facility in Gardnerville and at the Kahle Community Center. For more reopening information and new safety protocol, click here.


- Community Health Clinic
Currently doing as many appointments via Telehealth as possible and seeing patients when necessary. You can make an appointment by calling 775-782-9038.

- Gymnasium Membership
For those residents who have Gymnasium Memberships the County will provide a 2-month extension on their expiration date. Those scheduled for cancelled County programs and classes will be issued a credit or refund.

- Homemaker Services
Continuing as scheduled with safety modifications in place.

- Kids Clubs
Youth Day Camps at both the Valley and the Lake are open!

- Meals On Wheels
Starting Monday, June 22nd the senior drive thru meal service will be reduced to Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays from 11am to 1pm at the Douglas County Community and Senior Center. Drive thru meal service will continue on Wednesdays at the GID building at James Lee Park and Thursdays at the TRE Community Center from 11am to 1pm. Just a reminder, please stay in your vehicles. You will receive a seven day supply of frozen meals along with a veggie/snack bag. While the suggested donation is $21, no one will be turned away. Seniors wishing to receive this service are asked to contact the Senior Center at 775-782-5500 ext. 1 to arrange drive up food pick up at the center or home delivery.

- Parks
The County Parks themselves will remain open, but all organized activities in Douglas County Parks are cancelled.

The following parks facilities are open:

Skate Park | Douglas County Skate Facility will be closed in Herbig Park
Tennis Courts | Douglas High School, Johnson Lane Park, Lampe Park, Zephyr Cove Park
Volleyball Courts | Aspen Park, Lampe Park (2 courts), Zephyr Cove Park

The following park facilities remain closed at this time as we inquire for more direction from the state

Topaz Lake Campground

Effective June 1, overnight camping at the Topaz Lake Campground is reopen. The Park and boat ramp will remain open for day users and fisherman. Campground reservations will continue to be accepted online and in advance. For more reopening information and new safety protocol, click here

COURTS
The courts have made several changes to their schedules, read here court order

EXTENSION DOUGLAS COUNTY
We realize that this plan may change, and we will make updates accordingly and as needed per recommendations from the authorities we work with and serve. The office will be closed to the public, and we can meet with persons as/if needed through a scheduled appointment.  Some staff will plan on working from the office, but may work from home intermittently. The appropriate signage will be posted on the door for our clientele. 

HISTORIC COURTHOUSE OFFICES | Offices of the Assessor, Clerk-Treasurer and Recorder
Effective June 10, the county offices located in the Historic Courthouse reopen to the public. The Douglas County Historic Courthouse public counter located at 1616 8th Street in Minden will be open weekdays 9am-5pm. Due to limited space, the Clerk's Office is requesting you call for an appointment at 775-782-9014.

We are excited to announce that we are working on a plan to re-open Tahoe General Services and look forward to opening the week of June 22nd. In the meantime, the Clerk/Treasurer's office encourages residents to use state-run DMV offices for your title and registration needs. Effective June 15, state-run DMV offices are open.

LIBRARY
Starting June 23, the Minden Branch will be open to the public for limited hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am-2pm and on Saturdays from 10am-4pm. The Lake Tahoe Branch will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am-4pm.

All outside book drops throughout Douglas County are open and will remain open for patrons to return items. The library is not charging late fees on overdue items during this time. 
Request library items through the library's online catalog: catalog.douglas.lib.nv.us or by calling 775-782-9481. The items will be collected for you and brought to your car. Reference and information services by phone will also available during those hours. 

Patrons are also encouraged to take advantage of the library’s many electronic resources and downloadable content available through the library’s website. The library provides fun, interactive content on Facebook, Twitter, and a new Instagram account, so please digitally join us! Any questions about your library account can be emailed to info@douglas.lib.nv.us.


PUBLIC WORKS

Douglas County Public Works which included Water and Sewer Utilities, Road Maintenance, Stormwater Management, Engineering and Building & Fleet Services will be available by appointment only to reduce face to face interactions. To schedule an appointment or for any questions, please call the Public Works main line at 775-783-6480.

To submit water/sewer payments, please use one of the following options:
1. Mail your check to P.O. Box 2121, Minden, NV 89423
2. Use the drop box in the driveway of the Public Works Department at 1120 Airport Road, Minden
3. Make an online payment from the Douglas County website www.douglascountynv.gov

SHERIFF'S OFFICE
To read Governor Sisolak's directive related to legal proceedings, permit, and licenses click here or access the PDF hereThe new order eliminates the immediate need for the public to come into the Sheriff's Office to renew licenses. Any new Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) applications will be postponed for 30 days or until the Sheriff has identified a low risk of COVID-19 exposure to the Sheriff's Office employees. All other functions of the Sheriff's Office will remain in operation. Keeping the Douglas County community safe is our top priority. Should you have a non-essential issue or question for the Sheriff's Office please contact 775-782-9933 and someone will be available 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

SHOOTING FACILITY
Beginning June 18, 2020 through July 17, 2020 the Douglas County Community Services Department will be closing the Douglas County Shooting Range for maintenance and safety enhancements. The closure is planned for one month in order to constrict a No Blue Sky Baffle System on the rifle side of the range. The Douglas County Community Services Department would like to thank the public in advance for their patience and consideration during this temporary closure.  

SOCIAL SERVICES
Open by appointment only.  Outreach to Topaz Ranch Estates and Ranchos is suspended.  Please call 775-782-9825.
