Our Focus
Douglas County Social Services is a Community Action Agency, mandated by state law and funded by tax dollars, as well as various state and federal grants. Guidelines for providing assistance to the county's residents are set by the Douglas County Board of Commissioners.
Our Mission
Providing support, education and personal case planning to promote and encourage self-sufficiency.
As a Community Action Agency, Douglas County Social Services (DCSS) offers support services to county residents in need of assistance in accessing other mainstream resources beyond those provided directly by our office. This support can be in the form of assistance with completing applications, referrals to other agencies, screening for additional services, and individualized case planning and goal setting.
We ask that you schedule an appointment so that the appropriate amount of time can be allotted to your needs. In most cases we will also require that a current DCSS application is on file.
DCSS is an intake site for the Energy Assistance Program (EAP) and can take your application with all the necessary documentation to submit to EAP with a record of its submission date.
