The Douglas County Recorder's Office is a constitutionally created office charged with the recordation and retention of legal documents relating to land tranfers, maps, mining records, and Federal tax liens, and marriage records relating to this county. The first land records in the Carson Valley were established be Stephen Kinsey in 1885.

The Recorder's Office has four primary divisions: Recording, Marriage, Imaging (formerly Microfilm), and Records Management.

All recorded documents are public record and are available for viewing. Staff members are happy to assist you in producing certified copies, microfilm and CD-ROM duplicates of the documents, all of which may be purchased by the public.

Availability to access recorded documents from 1983 forward is now possible though the Database Link. Records prior to this date may be viewed at our office.

Public office hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday; excluding all legal holidays, including Nevada Day, the last Friday in October and Family Day, the Friday after Thanksgiving Day.
