Douglas County Recorder

The Recorder's Office is responsible for the recordation of documents and filing of maps. The office maintains an index cross referenced by name of principal parties to the recorded items. The office provides for the viewing and copying of these records. Staff members produce certified copies and microfilm duplicates of the documents and official index listings in various formats, all of which may be purchased.

Some examples of recorded documents are deeds, deeds of trust, notices of completion, leases and financing statements, homesteads and federal tax liens together with land maps, mining records, military discharge papers and marriage certificates. All documents are microfilmed for permanent retention.

The Recorder's Office also includes the Records Management Division of Douglas County. The chief purpose of Records Management is to serve as the records retention center for the county, as well as serving as a microfilm processing facility.
