Director’s Note
Many cases of the H1N1 Swine Flue virus have now been confirmed in Douglas County.  The Parks & Recreation receives phone calls regarding its policies with respect to this potential flu epidemic.  The Parks & Recreation Department follows the Center fo Disease Control guidelines and coordinates with other agencies such as the school district in order to gauge the impact this virus may have in our community.

Two simple guidelines exist

1)  Stay home except to seek medical care.  Do not travel or go to work or school.

2)  Avoid close contact with others for 7 days after your symptoms have begun or until you have been symptom free for 24 hours.

This is an important point for many who's wish to continue to recreate, whether playing softball or visiting our local parks, and may have close contact with others.  It is our request that if you have been diagnosed or exhibit flu-like symptoms that you do not expose yourself to anyone including thoses in Douglas County Parks & Recreation facilities.

And remember that if you are experiencing a cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headaches, fatigue, chills, diarrhea or vomiting, you should stay home and avoid contact with others. And remember to cover your mouth and nose when sneezing, wash your hands offten, avoid touching your eyes and nose or mouth and if you know someone else is ill, avoid contact with them.

If you have any questions we encourage you to contact the Center for Disease Control at 1-800-232-4636.
