Mission Statement

To continue to create and preserve quality parks and recreation opportunities, serving people of all ages and interests, that positively affect the community and enrich life.

Director’s Note

For the second year in a row Douglas County Board of Commissioners has made the Douglas County Community & Senior Center their number one priority.  As a result of their direction the Douglas County Community Services Department has put into place a construction funding program using an existing ad valorum tax rate to pay debt service on the construction of the center, and has secured operating revenues to fund the annual operation and maintenance of the new building.

Douglas Douglas County Community Services Department has further formed an internal and external pool of experts which make up the Douglas County Community & Senior Center Design Team.  This team will help move the project forward and insure its success. In the months of December the County plans to have a designer on board to assist with the plans and bid documents for a design build contract which is hoped to be awarded in the fall of 2012.

If things continue to progress as planned it is hoped that the residents of the Carson Valley will enjoy their first full service Community & Senior Center by the fall of 2015.  the Community Services Department appreciates residents' patience and support in helping us get this project going and off the ground.  If you have any questions regarding this important construction project please feel free to contact myself Scott Morgan at 775-782-9828.
