A: Checks, money orders and cashier’s checks should be made payable to Tahoe Justice Court. They should be mailed to Tahoe Justice Court, P.O. Box 7169, Stateline, NV, 89449.
Q: Can I make an appointment to be married by the Justice of the Peace?
A: There is a Justice of the Peace present at the Courthouse every Saturday from
2:00 PM until 5:00 PM to perform ceremonies. No appointment is necessary. The Court
is located at 175 Highway 50, Stateline, NV. It is on the 2nd floor of the Douglas County Administration Building across the lobby from Tahoe General Services where you purchase your marriage license. Please refer to the Clerk/Treasurer for additional wedding ceremony information.
Q: How do I get a copy of my marriage license?

Q: Can I go to traffic school?
A: Traffic School is not offered or accepted in Douglas County. Local Nevada residents may contact the DMV at (775) 684-4368 or refer to www.dmvnv.com/dlpoints.htm for information regarding the driver license point system. All others should contact their local DMV for any suggestions.
Q: What if I need a continuance to appear on my traffic citation?
A: We can give you a continuance over the telephone on traffic citations. Traffic arraignments are held every Monday at 9:30 AM, excluding holidays. The Court can be reached at (775) 586-7200.
Q: Can I send in my proof of insurance or registration to the Court for my traffic citation?
A: The Court does not verify proofs of any type for traffic citations. You will present these documents to the District Attorney’s office.
Check in at the Justice Court Clerk window on your arraignment date, which is shown on your citation by 9:30 AM. We will then send you to the District Attorney’s office, which is located in the same lobby directly next to the Justice Court Clerk window.
You will show proof of insurance, registration or any other type of proof that you may have been cited for to the District Attorney’s office at that time. Once that is completed, you will return to the Justice Court Clerk for filing of the appropriate Court documents.
Q: How do I appear and dispute my traffic citation?
A: Check in at the Justice Court Clerk window on the arraignment date, which is shown on your citation by 9:30 AM. We will then send you to the District Attorney’s office, which is located in the same lobby directly next to the Justice Court Clerk window.
After meeting with District Attorney’s office you will return to the Justice Court Clerk with documentation to be filed.
If a settlement was reached we will process and file appropriate documents and collect any fines due at that time.
If a settlement was not reached and you are requesting a trial, bail in the amount shown on the citation is due at that time. We will issue a receipt for the bail and prepare a notice of setting for the trial date.
If you are unable to post bail or would like to address the Court regarding the bail, the Clerk will set you to return on that same say at 1:30 PM to appear before the Judge. The bail will be discussed and a trial date will be set at that time.
Traffic trials are held on the 2nd and 4th> Tuesday of every month. Defendants representing themselves are set at 9:30 AM and those represented by an attorney are set at 1:30 PM.
Q: How do I request a record search and copies of Court documents?
A: You may request a records search in person, by telephone or in writing. The fee is $1.00 per year, per name, per case type (criminal, civil, traffic, ect.) and $.30 per page for any copies. To obtain a certified copy the fee is $3.00 for each document. All fees are due at the time of the request. Please enclose a self addressed stamped envelope when making your request in writing.
Q: Where do I file for a divorce?
