SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Your son/daughter will be required to participate in an educational program as part of his/her individual treatment plan. The China Spring Youth Camp Educational Program is operated by the Douglas County School District. Credits your son/daughter earns, will be transferable to the school he/she attends after leaving the Camp. Educational goals will be developed by the China Spring Youth Camp/Aurora Pines Girls Facility Staff and the educational staff of the Stoddard and Jewel Jacobsen High School. Your son/daughter will be taking a placement test upon his arrival into the Camp. This test along with a review of your child's past school history, the completion of a personal interview with your son/daughter, your input, and your child's input will be used to formulate the most appropriate educational plan. School begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 11:40 a.m. for the lunch break. Classes resume at 1:30 p.m. and end at 2:30 p.m. Should your son/daughter wish, he/she may also be able to enroll in a credited vocational program which runs from 2:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.. In this program your son has the ability to earn credits applicable to the local community college. Should your son/daughter qualify for the GED program, he/she will be enrolled into this course of study.
