Due to the Carson Valley’s propensity for flash flooding, precipitation gauges have been installed in the locations you see on the map above. When there is rainfall, it is continually monitored, and data is relayed to the County's 911 Emergency Center. In the event of a potential flood, residents are alerted by radio and television of any impending flood danger and informed of appropriate actions to take.
The colored box in the lower left corner indicates Hydrologic Threat or flood danger on a scale of 1 - 4 (1=no threat, 4=extreme threat).
