The district attorney's office serves as the county's public prosecutor for criminal and juvenile matters. The disitrict attorney represents the people of the state of Nevada in criminal matters.  The office represents county commissioners and other county or township officials in civil matters. By state law, the district attorney is also responsible for the collection of child suport payments.  The district attorney cannot represent private citizens in civil matters.
