There is currently a wildland fire in the area of U.S. 395 near Leviathan Mine Rd. in Douglas County. The fire has grown to 250 acres since it was reported at 12:19 p.m.Currently there is a Road Closure on US395 between Riverview and SR208 Holbrook Jct. Locals will be allowed through both North and Southbound with proof of ID.
The Cutter Fire has burned about 650 acres, though crews on scene say it may be less than that, and the fire is 30% contained as of Wednesday morning. The fire is northeast of the intersection of Highway 395 and Leviathan Mine Road, south of the Gardnerville Ranchos.East Fork Fire, BLM , Nevada Forrest Service and the Washoe Tribe are currently working in Unified Command. All fire crews are on scene and again this morning. The incident consists of two divisions, each with assigned resources. The goal for today is to tie both the north and south ends of the fire on the eastern most boundary together using bucket drops and hand crews and secure lines on the north and south. Some engines work will continue in areas were access can be made in a vehicle. UPDATE: US395 All travel lanes back open between Fairview and SR208.
The fire has increased to an estimated 700 acres. There are currently two helecopters and two aircraft on scene. US395 between Riverview and SR208 Holbrook Jct. remains closed in both directions. Locals will be allowed to pass with proof of ID.
