Dining facility and kitchen
The dining room can seat approximately 300 people at tables with beautiful mountain views. The kitchen is a larger commercial style with improved meals –on-wheels capability for Seniors.
A portion of the Center is dedicated to senior activities: a larger craft and ceramics area, gift shop, activity rooms for games (such as bridge, bingo, and bunko) and a common area for socializing. There will also be a senior day care facility and a nurse’s station on site.
The remainder of the building includes 2 basketball/4 volleyball courts, exercise equipment, an indoor walking and running track, locker rooms and restrooms. The facility will be large enough for the whole community to enjoy. The Center will also have the capacity to host a variety of major tournaments.
The Community and Senior Center is one of Douglas County’s 8 priority projects. The Economic Vitality Program, established in 2010, strives to “Create a Community to Match the Scenery.”
The Douglas County Community Services Foundation continues to collect funds to help fulfill the Center’s needs.
